Impress with your Canape Skills!

by Eatout-Brisbane on July 17, 2010

Planning a cocktail party or soiree? Want your friends to think you are clever cooking person?

If you are anything like me, you’re food appreciation skills outrank your food creation skills, but help is at hand.

Chef Justin Hohnle, of 16th on Park Restaurant in Milton, is going to help you grow your repertoire with a monthly series of demonstration (for watchers) and cooking (for doers) classes – starting with Cocktail foods on the 30th July.

The observation classes are good for those who want to sit back and relax with a glass of wine while watching Justin demonstrates a few selected dishes.  Observation dosn’t mean you have to be quiet tho – chuck any questions at Justin, and he’ll help you feel confident to re-create the dishes at home.

The cooking classes are hands-on – you split into teams of around 3-4 and prepare the dishes at the same time as Justin.  Hmm I sense a competitive (yet fun) team building activity coming on here!

After both style classes, you get to sit down and enjoy the results of your labours, matched with wine or beer.  Classes are kept small – creating an intimate and fun atmosphere.

The next class is on Friday 30th July from 6.00pm – 8.30pm and is $70.00 – this is an observation style class on creating Cocktail foods and I think it would be perfect for grabbing a few friends to head down after work and spend some relaxing quality time together! Kind of like Friday night Masterclasses – but in the flesh!

You need to rustle up a restaurant to get them going over there! – so good for team building events, or imagine a Hens Party that kicks off with a class like this!
